Winter Inspiration

Winter Inspiration is a one-of-a-kind art quilt inspired by a photograph my husband took of cattails on a frozen pond near our home. This quilt captures the tranquil beauty of winter and will add texture, warmth, and softness to any space.

Designed and created entirely by hand—without patterns or kits—this quilt is my personal interpretation of the serene moment frozen in the photo. Using over 20 different fabrics, each piece is hand-cut and sewn with care in my personal sewing studio, ensuring that no two pieces are alike. I’ve incorporated traditional piecing techniques along with fabric appliqué to bring depth and dimension to the scene.

The quilt is stitched with multiple colors of thread to either blend in or highlight specific areas of the artwork. Invisible thread was used on the pond to create the illusion of ice, catching the light in just the right way. Straight and wavy quilting stitches accentuate the delicate details of the cattails, the pond, and the surrounding winter landscape.

At 36" x 24-1/2", Winter Inspiration includes 40 hours of careful work into every stitch. The piece is fully “framed” in coordinating fabric, combining both machine sewing and hand stitching, and is labeled on the back for authenticity.

For easy display, the back includes sewn-in corner pockets. A dowel or flat rod work best to ensure the quilt hangs flat. Hanging rod is NOT included in purchase.

Please note: As a fiber art piece, Winter Inspiration is not machine washable or dryable. To keep it clean, simply use a lint roller, or brush attachment on your vacuum, to maintain its beauty.
