Thought of the Day

A little insight into what is going through my mind as I am quilting.

I got quite a bit of quilting accomplished yesterday!

As I sat back to look at my progress, my mind was a jumble of thoughts on the beauty and artistry that goes into creating a beautiful show piece. I don't rush the process, rather I take the time and care to make sure every element is just right.

When I first started on this art quilting journey in 2021, I had the basic knowledge but I was most definitely still learning. These past years have been all about embracing my art and style and absorbing the knowledge shared by others who have gone before me. I have met some of the most amazing quilters and artists!

The best thing about the quilting and artist community is the openness to convey and share their knowledge and skills and techniques. I have had many fellow quilters help me these past years to improve my methods for everything from piecing to quilting to binding. I have even learned new tips and tricks from my own students! Even as teachers, we can continue to learn and improve our skills to make our work even more stunning.

You can't change how people feel about you, so don't try.

Just live your life and be happy.

That is where I am today. As I prepare for another day quilting my latest art piece, I think back on the lessons of my fellow artists as I strive for perfect mitered corners and smooth quilting lines without puckers and creases.

Enough musings for one day! I have to get back to work. LOL

Happy Quilting!

While there are some in the community who try to gatekeep knowledge, there are a great many more who are out in the world sharing their passion for their art without constraint. It has been my experience that the best people in the quilt community are the ones who don't expect anything in return except your willingness to learn and shared enjoyment of the art. They are the most genuine and encouraging people I have ever met.
